Doug Bewsher
DISTINGUISHED ADVISOR, ENTERPRISE STRATEGY

Doug has been advising Loop AI Group since 2012, when the company was still in stealth mode, developing neural network–based cognitive technology a decade before AI became mainstream. Drawing on his experience scaling enterprise SaaS leaders—including his tenure as CMO at Salesforce.com, where he keynoted Dreamforce, launched Salesforce Communities, and built a 300-person marketing organization that drove record pipeline growth—he has played a pivotal role in shaping Loop’s go-to-market strategy and enterprise positioning.

Doug Bewsher is a pioneering leader in growth and brand marketing for enterprise SaaS companies, with over 25 years of experience building and shaping some of the technology industry's most influential social, mobile, and technology brands. He is passionate about how data and AI are transforming Sales & Marketing, and has led and invested in many of the most influential B2B companies driving this transformation.

Doug currently serves as an Operating Partner at Arrowroot Capital Management, a growth equity firm focused on growth-stage B2B software investments, where he has been since January 2021 (initially as Executive in Residence). He also serves on the Board of Directors at Engage3, and is an advisor to several early-stage SaaS companies including MadKudu and FAYBL. In 2025, he joined UC Berkeley as a Guest Lecturer on AI in Marketing.

Most recently, Doug served as CEO of Leadspace (April 2014–January 2021), where he pioneered the B2B Customer Data Platform (CDP) category and built the leading B2B-focused CDP. Under his leadership, Leadspace was named a Leader by Forrester in the B2B Customer Data Platform category (2019), grew 50% annually, raised $40 million from leading investors including Battery Ventures and Vertex Capital, and expanded to serve over 200 enterprise customers—including Microsoft, American Express, Zoom, SAP, Salesforce, Oracle, HP Enterprise, and Staples. In 2019, Doug led Leadspace's acquisition of ReachForce, creating the largest AI-driven CDP in the market for B2B companies. Leadspace's platform enabled customers to build comprehensive, unified understandings of their customers and use AI to drive better engagements, with clients reporting an average of $50 generated in net new pipeline for every $1 spent on the platform.

Before joining Leadspace, Doug was CMO at Salesforce.com (March 2012–November 2013), where he led marketing activities worldwide, advocating and enabling companies to use a cloud-based, data-driven approach to sales and marketing. He played a key role in launching Salesforce Communities (now Community Cloud) and Chatterbox, keynoted global events, and built a global marketing team of 300—significantly contributing to the company's rapid growth as a leader in enterprise cloud computing and driving record global pipeline growth.

Prior to Salesforce, Doug was CMO at Skype (June 2010–December 2011), where he was instrumental in growing the company to 750 million users (adding 10 million users per month) and establishing Skype as the carrier of one-third of all international communications. He also launched Skype's B2B offering and helped position the company as an early leader in "Product Led Growth" through to its acquisition by Microsoft.
Doug's earlier career includes a range of leadership roles spanning both the advisory and client sides of marketing:
As CMO and COO at mig33 (July 2008–June 2010), a mobile chat and social gaming platform backed by Accel and Redpoint, Doug held his first CMO role while also serving on the Board.

As General Manager of the San Francisco Office at Digitas (January 2006–June 2008)—also referred to as Publicis Modem—Doug ran the office for one of the first full-service digital agencies.

As Global Director of CRM and Customer Marketing at Vodafone (January 2002–December 2005), Doug served as Global Customer Marketing Director for one of the world's largest telecommunications companies.

As Associate Principal at McKinsey & Company (January 1997–January 2002), Doug co-led McKinsey's North American CRM Practice during the dot-com boom and bust—a period he describes as "the renaissance of data-driven strategies when the internet went mainstream." He helped build the firm's West Coast Marketing practice.

As European Brand Manager at Unilever (January 1990–January 1995), Doug began his career gaining foundational experience in global brand marketing.
Doug has also served on the Board of Directors at Edgio, Inc. (formerly Limelight Networks, NASDAQ: LLNW) from February 2017 to December 2023. He is a Partner at NotaBene.ai (since 2014).

Doug holds an MBA with distinction from INSEAD (1996) and a Master's degree in Physics from Oxford University (1986–1989). He currently lives in San Francisco.
